Taylor Swift announced that she will be dropping a re-recorded version of her hit song “Love Story” Friday ahead of a fully re-recorded of her album “Fearless,” what she’s calling her “Taylor version”— as Swift begins to reassert control over her material after music mogul Scooter Braun controversially acquired, and later sold, the rights to her first six albums without her consent.

Appearing on Good Morning America Thursday, Swift said she had finally finished re-recording her Grammy-award-winning album “Fearless”, which would feature six previously unreleased songs “from the vault.”
“I’ve now gone back and recorded those so that everyone will be able to hear not only the songs that made the album but the songs that almost made it – the full picture,” Swift said.
Swift did not announce the release date for the album, but said the full version of “Love Story” will be released at midnight on Feb. 12.
Swift vowed to regain control of her music after Braun’s Ithaca Holdings acquired her back catalog in 2019. Swift vehemently opposed the acquisition, which she described at the time as her “worst case scenario.” She accused Braun of “bullying” and attempting to “dismantle” her “musical legacy.” The catalog was later sold to a private equity firm without her knowledge or consent, and after multiple failed attempts to re-acquire the rights herself, Swift vowed to re-record it in its entirety. In addition to re-recording “Fearless,” Swift had an incredibly productive 2020, dropping two surprise albums that each topped the Billboard chart.
In a statement on Twitter, Swift wrote: “I’ve spoken a lot about why I’m remaking my first six albums, but the way I’ve chosen to do this will hopefully help illuminate where I’m coming from. Artists should own their own work for so many reasons, but the most screamingly obvious one is that the artist is the only one who really *knows* that body of work.”
$365 million. That’s how much congdonginan.com estimates Swift’s net worth to be. The star was ranked number 62 on 2020’s list of America’s Self-Made Women.
In December, an excerpt of Swift’s new recording of “Love Story” was featured in a Match ad written by actor Ryan Reynolds.
